ABSTRACT

Objective To characterize the neuraminidase (NA) genes of influenza B virus in Shangrao. Methods The specimens of nasopharyngeal swabs were collected from patients with influenza-like symptoms in influenza sentinel hospital.Seven strains of influenza B virus were randomly selected for culture and isolation in Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Epithelial Cells (MDCK Line).Viral RNA was extracted.Fragments of NA genes were amplified by one-step RT-PCR and then were sequenced. The data obtained were analyzed with software DNAStar 6.0 and Mage 5.0.The deduced amino acid sequences were examined to explore the features ofNA gene. Results The NA gene showed high homology ofnucleotides between the 7 strains of influenza B virus. No amino acid substitution was found in catalytic or framework residues of the deduced amino acid sequences of NA gene. Conclusions All the 7 strains of influenza B virus were sensitive to neuraminidase inhibitors. However, ongoing resistance surveillance is necessary for control and prevention of influenza.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study effects of Tongxieercaofang (TXECF) on levels of IL-2 in serum and NO, NOS in intestinal mucosa tissue of rats with ulcerative colitis, and further to research the mechanism of' restoreing ulcer of TXECF. Methods Ulcerative colitis model was established by immunization and stimulus method partly. 50 rats were divided into 5 groups randomly:normal group, model group, TXECF group, Tongxieyaofang (TXYF) group, Bupiyichangwan (BPYCW) group. Then the effect of TXECF on levels of IL-2 in serum and NO, NOS in intestinal mucosa tissue were observed. Results In successful model group, IL-2 in serum was much lower than that of normal group (P

ABSTRACT

AIM:To investigate the possible mechanism of magnolol on the damage of PC12 cell induced by the addition of 6-OHDA placed in an incubator for 24 h with rat's pheochromocytoma cell of adrenal medulla in the absence and presence of magnolol. METHODS:Cell viability was measured by MTT method. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and aspartate-specific cysteine proteases-3 (Caspase-3) concentration(s) were assayed by fluorescence spectrophotometer. RESULTS:Cell activity declined sharply by the addition of 6-OHDA at concentration of 100 ?mol/L,the pre-treatment of magnolol(0.1~10 ?mol/L)could significantly increase the PC12 cell activity and prevent the increased ROS and caspase-3. CONCLUSION:Magnolol may protect the cell trauma induced by 6-OHDA,and the mechanism is related to inhibiting the 6-OHDA-induced elevation in intracellular ROS levels and reducing the caspase-3 activity.
